A Precious Life...

Jessica and I just got home from the memorial service of our beloved friend and sister in Christ, Brooke Prieto. Things have been a roller coaster for us lately and for all those close to Brooke, but I just wanted to take a minute to remember her for the awesome woman of God and friend she was.

Brooke was a young 26 years of age and had a wonderful heart of love for all she knew. She was the wife to another dear friend of ours Edmund Prieto. Edmund and Brooke were in our wedding and we were in theirs. We shared holidays together and served in ministry for many years. We grew to know them as family and will forever hold Brooke in the deepest place in our hearts. The impact her life has had on our lives is too great to explain in words. Her Christ-like character and strength as a woman has propelled Jessica as a woman, wife, and mother. Jessica looks forward to a tea time in heaven.

Her going to be with the Lord on January 5, 2010 has brought many tears as well as an overwhelming peace knowing she is now in complete comfort and love with her Saviour. Although we miss her very much and can't understand fully the reasons for her passing, we know that her life has touched so many and will continue to change lives for years to come. We are forever grateful to God for allowing us to be apart of such an amazing person. Brooke, we love you very much.

Edmund, we are here for you forever. We love you like a brother and know our relationship will only grow stronger through this. The love that you and Brooke shared and showed for one another was truly an inspiration to us. You were so good for each other and I know her testimony will be passed on by an awesome man of God.

To a life that has impacted so many, Brooke Prieto, a precious life.

As students at the University of Redlands, Carly and Brian fell in love. What better place to have their wedding than the place they grew their relationship. The historic campus, with some buildings aged over 100 years, was a beautiful place to capture such a fun couple.

Jessica has been busy using her creative skills. Today she sat down and put together these sweet looking Christmas ornaments. I'm pretty sure she is somehow related to Martha Stewart. I'm blessed to have her because she makes our house look like it's from a magazine and is always so creative and festive when it comes to decor. Once we have a minute to settle into our new home I'll take some shots and post them for you all to see how it looks. Jessica and Fabian were married in a small ceremony with only family present. We were honored when they asked us to capture some images of them just after the ceremony. We took a trip to Laguna Beach and spent some time chronicling the excitement from the day. We nearly missed the good light from the sunset because of cloud cover and the shorting days. But we were pleased with what we were able to capture. Jessica and Fabian, thank you both so much for choosing us and letting us be apart of such an important time.

Our trip to "The City by the Bay" is coming to an end. As most of you know we have been up in the bay area shooting a couple weddings and taking a much needed vacation. Tomorrow we have a wedding in Santa Cruz before we head home, but I wanted to share a quick picture I took last night that doesn't do the awing view justice, yet it's the next best thing.

We are definitely in the middle of the most hectic season of our lives so far. It's a miracle I'm even able to write this post! We have a wedding this Sat. night and then we head out to the Bay Area for a wedding Sun. afternoon. We'll be on a bit of a vacation for the week after our back-to-back weddings (a much needed vaction). Since we've been so busy we haven't been posting as much as we like to, but I wanted to share this sneak peek with you until we have a bit more time to have a full post.

Aly and the Kuhl family

Some of you who know the Kuhl family are familiar with the foster care and hopeful adoption of little Alyssa. Today in court the judge ruled that Aly is to go live with her birth mom for a 3 week period, after which a decision will be made if that will be her permanent home. Please be praying for them during this time. The Kuhl family has been on a long journey with this process, and to have Alyssa leave breaks their hearts. They are joyful for the mother but also have a desire to care for Aly as one of their own.

We were blessed to capture some moments with them and Aly last week and although not all the photos are ready to be viewed I wanted to share a couple so you can put a face with the name as you pray.

Tim and Wendi, we love you and are praying for God's favor. Whether Aly stays or goes we know God is sovereign and will give you all a peace you can't understand as well as protection for Aly.

I was sitting here editing photos and thought I should share some of Micaiah. He seems to be getting bigger literally everyday. He'll be 14 months this week and he's walking everywhere and talking nonstop (not saying any real words, except for "no" and "hi", but he'll have a full conversation with you if you have the time). He makes us laugh constantly.

As for us, we are getting the keys to our new house this week! WOOP WOOP! So if you aren't doing anything on Thurs or Sun. (we have weddings on Fri. and Sat. so we'll be gone) come over and help me scrape the sparkly popcorn ceilings. They are too cool to keep. When we get in there, I'll post some pictures so you can see before and after. Have a blessed week and look for some posts coming up of weddings, engagements, and family shoots.

NEW Custom Packaging

We have been debating for sometime about how to best package our discs for brides. In the end Jessica, a woman of many talents, decided to custom design a bag and premium paper sleeve to pass the disc along in. Here are a few shots of one she did for Lindsay and Corey. Each one has its own different flare so if I get the time I'll share the others as well.

{Heather+Tommy} Married

The emotion and joy felt at this wedding were truly a blessing for us. We didn't have the pleasure of shooting an engagement shoot with Heather and Tommy but that didn't have an effect on the connection we were able to make with them on their wedding day. They were so sincere and fun to shoot. We are honored to have been a part of such an important day. Thank you both for being the great people you are.

Family Update...

Hello to all. As some of you know, we are in one of the busiest season of life and things are only going to get busier. I thought in all the busyness I would give you an update as to what's going on in our lives.

Today Micaiah turned 13 months. He's been walking (kind of). I think he has almost ALL of his teeth, including molars. He talks ALL THE TIME and is a HUGE joy in our lives.

We are indeed having number two, due Feb. 24, 2010. We will hopefully find out this week if we are having a boy or a girl. Either is good with us.

We are in escrow with a house in Spring Valley Lake, set to close by Sept. 21st. Which happens to be right in the middle of 'round two' of our wedding season, which includes a couple wedding up in the Bay Area we will be taking a week off for in Oct.

We have had the awesome opportunity to worship on the 7 Worship Team at HDC.

Although things are a bit hectic for us we are enjoying it. It is definitely a season of change and we are doing our best to take it one day at a time. So I'm sorry for not blogging as much as I would like to (or as much as you would like me too (hopefully)). I will do my best to blog more Micaiah pictures also, because I know you can't get enough of his awesomeness!

{Lindsay+Corey} Married

So this wedding was pretty amazing. Yes, the location was at Vellano Country Club, an amazing area of Chino Hills. The view was a site to see and the facility, decorations, and atmosphere were all top notch. But the most amazing thing about the wedding, in my opinion, is that Lindsay (the bride) shattered her leg just weeks prior to the big day and still went through with it. Not only went through with it but did an awesome job through the ceremony, reception, and all the long picture taking. The pictures show no sign of an injured bride, so my hats off to you Lindsay, you're quite the trooper. Thanks to both Lindsay and Corey for letting us share in your special day. Enjoy the photos.

I know this took a bit longer than usual, but if you read our previous post you'll know why. We had a great time with Carly and Brian. They both went to the University of Redlands, which is where they are getting married in October. They took us to a few spots around town and we capture them being them. Afterwards they took us to a great pizza place downtown where we had some pizza with mashed potatoes and other fun toppings. Thanks for everything you two and we look forward to the wedding.

Sneak Peek/Update

Our lives have been a bit abstruse and arduous the past weeks. I know I haven't blogged recently and that's not because there was nothing to blog. Rather, things going on haven't left us with time or energy for it.

To sum up a few things, in the past 3 weeks: we found out Jessica was pregnant, had an engagement shoot, had the first wedding of our busy wedding season, did a family shoot for dear friends, found out Jessica was pregnant with twins, endured through a urinary tract infection in Micaiah and a throat infection in Jessica, celebrated and early 3 year anniversary!, were saddened with the loss of one of our dear twins, spent time in San Diego with family celebrated birthdays, all on top of work and processing images as well as a 66 day (and counting) escrow with our house.

Thank you for all your prayers and support in all of this. I know life has few down-time seasons (especially at our age) but this has been a tough one. I didn't want to leave you without an image, so here's a teaser from the engagement shoot of Carly & Brian. We had tons of fun with them and will be shooting their wedding this October. Blessings.

Yesterday we went to beautiful Crystal Cove to take some engagement photos of Krista and Ricky. They picked the location and we couldn't be happier. For weeks we had an extended family shoot planned. The day came last week and wouldn't you know, in the month of JUNE, down came the rain and HAIL! Needless to say we had to make some changes in our plans for the location of the shoot. Luckily we were able to shoot at the wonderful home of the Siegerts, the grandparents of the clan. By the time we got there the rain had subsided and left an overcast yet serene atmosphere. We had a great time with all 13 of this fun family. Hope you all enjoy the photos.

As some of you know, I have my B.A. in Graphic Design. It has been a passion of mine for quite sometime and I enjoy the freelance work I get throughout the year.

A month back or so I started working on some design work for Massey Insurance Services. The company has been around for almost 30 years and has had the same corporate logo and identity for the same time period. The new owner wanted to take the look of the company into the 21st century. We had some good talks and after awhile I came up with look we are all proud of.

The wait is finally over. We posted the sneak peek of this engagement shoot earlier this week and have finally had time to sort and process all the images. We posted some of our favorites so let us know what you think. Heather and Brett were such a blast to shoot. They were fun and adventurous and I really think it shows in the images. Despite having high-heels on, Heather was a trooper and traversed down mountains and across trees...AMAZING! We can't wait to capture their wedding in June!

For those of you who are familiar with the Canon 5D Mark II, no introduction is needed. For those who are not photographers or maybe just don't keep up on the latest and greatest in the photo world, let me just give a couple stats that everyone can appreciate. 21.1 MP & 1080p HD Video. 'Nuff said.

Needless to say Jessica and I are extremely excited that we happened to order this elusive camera at just the right time. Apparently there was an unexpected shipment that came in just hours after we placed our order...they were sold out minutes later. So today we received the package and have been figuring out/playing with our new "toy."

If you live close you can stop by and check it out. (I know you want to).

We will (obviously) be posting images from the camera soon as well as some awesome video. Until then have a snowy night!

That's right you woodchuck chuckers it's...GROUNDHOG DAY!!!

So I've discovered that there are basically 2 kinds of people in the world: those who like the movie Groundhog Day and those who don't. For example, I am one of those that think Groundhog Day is a GREAT movie. Jessica on the other hand would rather hang upside down and have eggs thrown at her face than watch Groundhog Day. So the question is...what kind of person are you.

Please respond to this as I am particularly interested in how many people love/hate this movie and this day for that matter.

NEW NAME! NEW BLOG!

Well if you have followed this blog or the Whitecloud Productions blog you will notice some changes. Whitecloud has been a business name I have used for my video productions. I have used this name for 6 years now and have done dozens of jobs through it. I developed the identity for Whitecloud and invested a lot of time and money into building it into what it is today. However, since I graduated with my B.A. in Graphic Design & Marketing, I have also invested my energy into developing my own name as a business identity.

Since name recognition is huge in the business I am in and in an effort to consolidate my businesses, I have decided to do all photography and design work under the name: Jacob Mariano Photography+Design. If you are used to visiting whitecloudpro.blogspot.com, you may want to re-bookmark my blog to JacobMariano.blogspot.com as the Whitecloud blog will no longer be updated.

On this blog we will post mostly photography from weddings, families, seniors, and businesses. Although you will also see any design work I am working on.

I also find it notable to mention that my wife Jessica is big part of what we do. We photography most everything together so the images you see on this blog may be from either one of us. Generally it is about 50/50.

Rachel and Michael Smith live in beautiful Point Loma, San Diego. We made plans to do a shoot with them, so Michael, on his semi-daily surf routine, looked around for a good spot. Lo and behold we ended up shooting at a grassy knoll overlooking the ocean. Such a beautiful place to take pictures of such beautiful people. I picked out a few of my favs from the day, although there were heaps of goods to choose from. Hope you all enjoy and as always feel free to leave your thought on the photos in the comments section. The other day Jessica and I spent the later part of the evening shooting Adriana and Joe. We had a fun time and will be displaying their images at the upcoming Bridal Expo at the San Bernardino Fairgrounds in Victorville Jan 24-25. See you there!

After seven years of marriage Tom and Katie Bacon finally have wedding-esc photos. Tom and Katie didn't get to have a traditional wedding with the wedding dress, tux, and flowers so we were excited that we had the chance to recreate the love they shared for each other on that day and still feel now. Britany and Bob are so stinkin' great. We did their engagement photos back in October and had fun then so we knew shooting their wedding wouldn't be any different. Jessica took care of the photography (awesome job wife) and I shot the video (I'll post a clip when I finish). We realize that there are about a million images we have posted of this wedding. But we don't apologize because there were way to many good ones to not share them with you all. Enjoy and be blessed.

The November issue of Inland Empire magazine features the "2008 Top Rated Legal Eagles." As it turns out, the law firm McCune Wright, whom I did a shoot for last month, made the list. A picture I took was used for the write up the magazine did on them. It's pretty exciting to see something you've done appear in a magazine the size of Inland Empire.

Yesterday we took a drive to Laguna Beach to take shots of a couple, Britany & Bob. It was kind of hard to take a bad picture of such a good looking couple in such a good looking location, so we posted a few more than usual. Back in August we got to capture the wedding of some friends of ours, Aubrey & Derek Johnson. Jessica did all the photography and I did the videography, along with Morgan Taylor. It was a fun day. It took me awhile to get these images up because things have been very busy. There are some more wedding coming up that I will try to post shortly after they happen. God bless and enjoy the images.

Last month I shot a distribution warehouse for contractor and builder supplies. It was fun to shoot the interesting textures and angles given in abundance with all the different supplies. I hope you enjoy the images as much as I did shooting them.

Teaming up with Green Acres Advertising Design again we had the chance to shoot a law firm located in the city of Redlands. The office of McCune & Wright Attorneys at Law had glass walls and doors and was very chic. The images will be used for their new website. Here are a few shots from the day.

Forgive me for the lack of posting. We have been pretty busy with photo shoots, meetings, and taking care of a newborn. I should have some more time in these next couple of weeks to keep you all up to date, so keep checking in.

Last month we were contacted by Green Acres Advertising Design to do a photo shoot in the city of Redlands. Green Acres was contracted by the city to do a brochure to encourage business development. So our photos will be used in the up coming brochure to be given to developers across the state and beyond.

Over the weekend both Jessica and I had the awesome privilege of being in Eddie & Shannon's beautiful wedding. It was such a blast. Aside from them being great people and wonderful friends, the are also photogenic. Our friend Morgan shot their wedding and when we were able to we snapped a few. I thought I would let you all know about my current project. It is a chiropractic office called Hannon Chiropractic. I'm in the first stage of preparing comps for a new logo and will then put together some stationary and corporate identity material. Here's a quick look at another project I did. It was a re-branding/packaging campaign for the Porto Rico Importing Co. This project involved a little more creativity beyond the design of the package. The challenge was to come up with a name, logo, theme, and design for the companies line of teas and coffee, and eventually develop it into a store location to rival Starbucks (only better and more refined). Here are a couple shots of the teas. Enjoy.

This is a re-branding and packaging campaign I did for a California based pasta/pasta sauce company called Mezzetta. The campaign was for their line of pasta sauces with the brand name Napa Valley Bistro.
